The source said that in the early hours of Monday, six vessels switched off their navigation and positioning systems and, at the instigation of the US military, attempted to transit through an unsafe route South of the Strait of Hormuz.
The source added that one of the vessels encountered an incident, while the remaining ships were redirected back into the Persian Gulf under Iranian escort management. The source stressed that, as previously announced, maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz must follow the designated navigation channel, adding that other routes are hazardous and carry a risk for navigating ships.
